An elderly Adams County man died Thursday in a two-vehicle crash north of Gettysburg, state police said.

Kenneth Johnson, 75, of Aspers, was pronounced dead at York Hospital at 12:19 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 15, according to a state police news release.

Johnson was driving a Toyota RAV4 westbound in the 700 block of Shrivers Corner Road and west of the intersection with Good Intent Road when his SUV went into the opposing lane of travel, police said.

The RAV4 crashed into a Ford Transit van driven by Barry Barbour, 77, of Gettysburg, police said, causing the van to crash into a utility pole.

The crash happened at about 11 a.m., police said.

Both men were flown to York Hospital by medical helicopter, according to state police.
