York City residents interested in learning more about their police department are invited to apply for the department’s fall 2018 adult Citizens Police Academy.

The outreach program meets twice a week for five weeks and covers a variety of topics, according to a news release from York City.

The academy curriculum includes a station tour as well as information about training standards, narcotics investigation, the detective bureau and internal affairs, the release states.

Those in the academy also will meet the department’s command staff and be given a tour of the York County 911 Center, according to the release.

The sessions will run from 6 p.m. to as late as 8:30 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays, starting Nov. 6 and running through Dec. 4, the release states.

Space is limited to 25 people, so those interested are encouraged to register early, city officials said.

Applications are available at the York City Police Department, 50 W. King St.
