A fire in Springfield Township destroyed a barn early Thursday morning, according to a fire official.

Loganville Fire Co. second assistant chief Dale Dubbs said the fire in the 9800 block of Loop Road completely destroyed a barn Thursday, Oct. 18.

“It wasn’t too bad because it was just a storage barn with some equipment in," he said.

Fire: Dubbs said crews were called to the scene at 2:18 a.m. Thursday. He said flames could be seen coming from the barn.

He estimated about 55 firefighters helped fight the blaze Thursday morning. Nine fire departments from the area came to assist, according to Dubbs.

“We had a lot of the local fire companies help us with this," Dubbs said.

No one was injured, he said.

Dubbs said it took firefighters about an hour to have the fire under control. He said there were only three or four pieces of equipment inside the barn that were destroyed.

The fire itself didn't spread to any other buildings. He didn't have a damage estimate.

Dubbs said a cause of the fire has not been determined, but he added that it does not appear to be suspicious.

"It could have been anything," he said.

Crews were at the scene until about 5:30 a.m., he said.
