Harrisburg Police have identified a man struck and killed by a city bus this week as being from York County.

Daniel Harmon, 63, no hometown provided, was struck by a Capital Area Transit bus shortly before 4 p.m. Monday, Oct. 1, at Second and Market streets, according to a news release from Harrisburg Police.

Officers tried to render aid to Harmon, but he succumbed to his injuries, the news release states.

Harrisburg Police Capt. Gabe Olivera said on Tuesday, Oct. 2, that Harmon was pronounced dead at the scene.

He said his department doesn't release addresses or hometowns of victims, instead having the Dauphin County Coroner's Office handle the release of that information.

But the Dauphin County Coroner's Office declined to release any information about Harmon, including his age and hometown, on Tuesday, saying more information would be released after an autopsy.

That autopsy is scheduled for Thursday, Oct. 4, according to the coroner's office.
