PennDOT opens bids to repair section of I-83 in York County
PennDOT is reviewing materials from a construction company to potentially have it repair and resurface a section of Interstate 83 in York County next year.
The state Department of Transportation said in a news release Wednesday, Sept. 19, that J.D. Eckman, a construction company from Atglen, Chester County, bid to complete the work for $13.6 million.
The work would be done on a 7-mile section between Exit 10 (Loganville) and Exit 18 (Mount Rose Avenue) in Springettsbury Township, according to PennDOT.
Should J.D. Eckman's information be complete and in order, it will be awarded the contract, and PennDOT said a notice to proceed on the project will be issued within the next six to eight weeks.
Prep work could be done this fall, but the majority of the work will be done beginning next spring, according to PennDOT.
Like work currently being done between Exit 4 (Shrewsbury) and Exit 10, this work is expected to primarily be done at night, the release states.
The other company to bid, H&K Group, of Skippack, Montgomery County, bid for $17.3 million, PennDOT said.
