York Dispatch

Weekend revelers beware — police will be conducting sobriety checkpoints in York and Lancaster counties this weekend, looking to arrest intoxicated drivers.

The checkpoints will be held sometime between 6 p.m. Friday, Sept. 14, and 6 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 16, according to a news relelease from the Center for Traffic Safety.

The locations and exact times of checkpoints are never made public early.

The checkpoints are part of the center's Impaired Driving Program.

Checkpoints, roving DUI patrols and other DUI-related enforcement activities through the Center for Traffic Safety are funded with federal grant money distributed by the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation, according to Barbara Zortman, director of the center, and are focused on roads with a history of impaired drivers and impaired-driving crashes.
