A garage and a truck were damaged during a fire in York City Thursday, Sept. 6, according to a fire official.

York City Deputy Fire Chief Chad Deardorff said the fire at a garage in the 600 block of Company Street caused $45,000 in damage.

The fire, he said, was called in just after 3 p.m. There was a significant column of smoke and there were multiple calls regarding the fire, according to the deputy chief.

“It was fully engulfed upon arrival," Deardorff said.

He said the fire was contained to the garage, which was detached. The home was not affected. Some garages nearby did have melted siding from the fire, Deardorff said.

He estimated it took firefighters about 10 minutes to get the fire under control.

Deardorff said the cause was undetermined as of Friday, Sept. 7.

No one was injured in the blaze.
