Darrenkamp's grocery closing stores, including in Newberry Twp.
Darrenkamp’s, an 86-year-old family-owned grocery chain in central Pennsylvania, is closing its stores, including one in Newberry Township, York County.
The company said in a news release on Tuesday, Sept. 4, that it will sell its Willow Valley Square store in Lancaster County to Giant Food Stores, and its other three stores — in Elizabethtown, Mount Joy and Newberry Township — will be closed by early November.
The liquidation process will begin immediately, according to the company.
“This was a very difficult decision because we will miss serving our neighbors and because of our long history serving the Lancaster community for so many years,” co-owner Dave Darrenkamp stated in the release. “Knowing how this affects our customers and employees made the decision even tougher.”
The York County store is located at 10 Newberry Commons.
