Coroner identifies motorcyclist killed in Hanover crash

A Hanover motorcyclist died after he crashed into a tree in Hanover early Friday, Aug. 31, according to police.

The York County Corner's Office identified the victim as Gary Riley, 51, of the 400 block of Baltimore Street.

Hanover Police Lt. Joseph Bunty Jr. wrote in a news release Friday morning that the crash happened about 2 a.m. in the 200 block of Frederick Street.

Riley was driving a 2000 Harley-Davidson FXSTB and struck a tree owned by the Hanover Borough Shade Tree Commission, according to the lieutenant.  No other vehicles were involved, according to officials. 

The coroner's office said an autopsy has been scheduled for Monday, Sept. 3, at Lehigh Valley Hospital in Allentown.

The department is asking anyone who witnessed the crash to contact them through York County 911 or 717-637-5575.
