A little more than a week before a student killed Red Lion Area Junior High School principal Gene Segro, teacher Kimberly Preske spoke to him about her concerns following an unplanned fire drill.

His response was, "We'll do better next time."

Fifteen years later, Preske is doing what she thinks Segro would have done, working with fellow educators to help them prepare for the possibility of school violence.

A therapist and school violence recovery educator, Preske shared her experiences following the 2003 murder-suicide with a group of local school officials and community members during a workshop Monday at Logos Academy in York City.

The group focused on recovery, dealing with grief and some of the services available to students, teachers and the school community as a whole.

The event was hosted by Cody Santiago, an local emergency preparedness consultant and author.
