York City firefighters to receive free estate-planning documents
Members of the York City Fire Department will receive free legal consultation this weekend.
Wills For Heroes, a program that is meant to help first responders set up wills, will be held from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 8, at Penn State York's Lee R. Gladfelter Library, the Pennsylvania State Bar Association said in a news release.
Firefighters and their spouses or partners who signed up for time slots will meet with volunteers, including lawyers, notaries and paralegals, to discuss wills, living wills, health care and financial powers of attorney, according to the release.
After an hourlong appointment, participants will receive notarized legal documents, the release states.
According to the release, 427 York County veterans, police officers, firefighters and other emergency personnel have received this service since 2010.
All available time slots are already booked, according to the release.
