York City in search of help for 'Bring On Play' committee
The York City Department of Public Works has scheduled a meeting to find organizations and individuals willing to help sponsor community activities as a part of the city's Bring On Play committee.
The committee was organized in 2008 to "increase play opportunities within the city of York" and raise funds for renovating city playgrounds each year, according to a Monday, Aug. 20, city news release.
The meeting will take place at 6 p.m. Monday, Aug. 27, in the City Council Chambers to detail the committee and recruit those who want to get involved.
Since its inception, the committee has built eight new play spaces in the city and has hosted events and activities in the community, the release states.
Those involved will "be focused on planning and implementing play activities, the annual community playground build and posting to social media," the release adds.
The York City Park Conservancy, a nonprofit organization that was created in 2017 to invest in the city's parks, will fund the majority of the playground renovations.
