As child in a family of nine growing up in Mexico, Anselmo Arrieta made a promise to his mother, Aurora, that he would someday open a bakery after he moved to the United States.

Baking is a family tradition, Arrieta said: All six brothers in the family are bakers, and Arrieta has continued that tradition, and honored the promise to his mother, by opening a new bakery in York.

Named after his mother, Aurora's Bakery features made-from-scratch pastries and breads along with Mexican and American breakfast, lunch and dinner items.

Aurora's Bakery is located at 133 N. Duke St., in the Yorktown Mall shopping center. Hours are 6 a.m.-8 p.m. Monday-Saturday and 8 a.m.-4 p.m. Sunday.
