Bridge construction in northern York County rescheduled again

Construction on a bridge carrying Andersontown Road over Yellow Breeches Creek between Fairview and Lower Allen townships has been rescheduled once again, according to a news release from the state Department of Transportation.

PennDOT said the construction, which is part of the state's Rapid Bridge Replacement Project, will now start Monday, July 30. It had previously been scheduled to start Monday, July 16.

Before that, it had been scheduled to start on July 9.

When the bridge closes, drivers will be detoured along Lewisberry Road, Siddonsburg Road, Moores Mountain Road, Grandview Avenue and Route 2017, the release states.

Construction is scheduled to be completed in November, but weather and other unforeseen events might change that, according to PennDOT.

The bridge is one of 558 bridges that have been or will be replaced under a public-private partnership with Plenary Walsh Keystone Partners.

Under the partnership, PWKP will finance, design, replace and maintain the bridges for 25 years, according to the release.

Plenary spokesman Rory McGlasson said last month that 12 bridges have been replaced since the project began in York County two years ago, and work is underway on the four remaining.

“They’ll be reopened and complete by the end of the year, if not sooner," he said.
