Police: Train strikes car in Codorus Township

A train struck a car in Codorus Township late last month, according to police.

State police said in a public information release report Thursday, July 12, that the crash happened about 12:15 a.m. June 26.

The release states that a Honda Accord was traveling east on Glenville Road, Codorus Township, and the driver, 18, of Westminster, Maryland, did not slow down going over the train tracks.

A CSX Transportation train, traveling south on the tracks, struck the driver's side front fender and bumper of the car when the car went over the tracks. The impact pushed the car off the road, police said.

Both the driver and his passenger, a 17-year-old girl from Spring Grove, suffered minor injuries, according to the report.

The train sustained minor damage to the front of the engine, police said.
