Some Interstate 83 ramps and lanes in York County will be closed through mid-July for repaving, according to the state Department of Transportation.

PennDOT said in a news release Friday, July 6, that crews will mill and repave on- and off-ramps for three exits starting Monday, July 9.

The exits — 21 (Route 30), 22 (North George Street), and 24 (Emigsville) — will be closed for a few days through the next two weeks, according to the department.

The release states that the ramps will be closed from about 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. each day, and that repairs could also close a lane, which will likely create traffic bottlenecks and delays.

First week: On Monday, July, 9, milling for the northbound on- and off-ramps began at the North George Street exit.

On Tuesday, July 10, crews will do milling work for the southbound on- and off-ramps for the exit as well.

On Wednesday, July 11, milling will be done for southbound on- and off-ramps for the Route 30 interchange, while paving will be done on the northbound on- and off-ramps for North George Street, according to the release.

On Thursday, July 12, milling will be done for northbound on- and off-ramps for the Route 30 interchange. Crews also will do paving work on southbound on- and off-ramps for North George Street.

On Friday, July 13, milling will be done for northbound on- and off-ramps for the Emigsville interchange, according to the release. Crews will also do paving on the northbound on- and off-ramps for the Route 30 interchange.

PennDOT said anyone driving on southbound I-83 headed to westbound Route 30 should take Exit 24, Emigsville, to the Susquehanna Trail, and then to Route 30, during the days when Exit 22 is worked on.

Second week: Work on the ramps is expected to go into the middle of next week.

On Monday, July 16, milling will be done for southbound on- and off-ramps for the Emigsville interchange. Paving will be done for northbound on- and off-ramps for the Route 30 interchange.

On Tuesday, July 17, paving will be conducted on the northbound on- and off-ramps for the Emigsville interchange, according to PennDOT.

The last day of work is scheduled for Wednesday, July 18, when crews will pave the southbound on- and off-ramps for the Emigsville Interchange.

PennDOT said the schedule is dependent on weather and could change.

Milling and paving operations for other sections of the interstate are scheduled for later in July and August, according to the release.
