Construction on the Route 616 bridge in Shrewsbury Township is expected to begin later this month, according to the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation.

PennDOT said in a news release that the Route 616 (Seven Valleys Road) bridge, which spans Centerville Creek in Shrewsbury Township just outside Glen Rock, will be closed starting Thursday, June 21.

The bridge will be closed as part of PennDOT's Rapid Bridge Replacement Project.

While the bridge is closed, drivers will be detoured along Glen Rock Road (Route 216), Church Road (Route 3018) and Larue Road (Route 3016), the news release states.

PennDOT said the bridge is expected to be completed in September, but unfavorable weather or unforeseen activities could affect that timetable.

The bridge is one of 558 bridges being replaced in the state under the project. For more information on the project, check its website, www.parapidbridges.com.
