The intersection of Market Street and Pershing Avenue will remain closed until Thursday, June 14, according to a Tuesday, June 12, city news release.

The intersection was initially supposed to be closed between Friday, June 8, and Sunday, June 10, due to repairs being made by the York Railway Co. The roadwork has been been extended, the release states.

Traffic heading east on Market Street will be detoured onto King Street at Penn Street. Pershing Avenue will also be closed between Philadelphia Street and King Street.

Additional road closures announced in the release include:

  • Nitro Circus road closures: On Friday, June 15, the York Revolution will be hosting the Nitro Circus show at Peoples Bank Stadium, 5 Brooks Robinson Way. Arch Street will be closed between George Street and Queen Street from 6 a.m. until the end of the event. After the event, southbound traffic on George Street coming from North York will be rerouted westbound onto Parkway Boulevard, and eastbound traffic on Parkway Boulevard will be detoured north onto George Street. All southbound traffic on George Street will be prohibited south of Parkway Boulevard, and normal traffic patterns will continue once the crowd has dispersed.
  • Memorial service road closures: On Wednesday, June 13, St. John the Baptist Episcopal Church, 140 N. Beaver St., will be holding memorial services for Dover Township Fire Police Officer Grant Froman, who died in the line of duty Wednesday, June 6. There will be no parking between Gas and Gay Avenues on Beaver Street. Normal traffic patterns will continue after the service.
