York County under flash flood watch Sunday

Staff report
The National Weather Service issued a hazardous weather outlook for Central Pennsylvania Monday.

York County is under a flash flood watch through midnight Sunday, May 27.

Slow-moving showers and thunderstorms will move through the area in the afternoon, producing rainfall of 2 to 3 inches an hour in some areas, according to the National Weather Service.

"Excessive rainfall within a short period of time can lead to rapidly rising waters, particularly in urban and low-lying areas and along small streams, which can lead to flash flooding," the warning states.

The warning also affects Adams, Bedford, Cumberland, Franklin, Fulton, Lancaster and Somerset counties.
