The York County Coroner's Office is calling the death of a 5-year-old boy on Tuesday "suspicious," the office said in the tweet Wednesday evening.

The coroner's office said Preston Hasselberger, of the 200 block of Dade Court, died after reportedly falling down a set of stairs at his York Township home Tuesday, May 15.

After an autopsy on Wednesday, May 16, the office said Preston's death was caused by "multiple injuries, suspicious," and that the manner of death is pending.

York Area Regional Police said in a news release that they were sent to Preston's home at 5:12 p.m. Tuesday after a report of a child falling down a flight of stairs within the residence.

Preston became unresponsive after the fall and was transported to York Hospital by emergency medical personnel, according to a news release from the coroner's office. He wasn't able to be resuscitated and was pronounced dead at 5:51 p.m. in the York Hospital trauma bay, the release states.

The autopsy was performed at the Lehigh Valley Hospital in Allentown, according to the coroner's office.

York Area Regional Police said they hope to have an update Thursday, May 17.
