A ramp on Interstate 83 northbound in Dauphin County will be closed for a few days, according to the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation.

The northbound ramp to Route 22, Jonestown Road, at Exit 50 will be closed at midnight Wednesday, May 2, and will remain closed until midnight Saturday, May 5, PennDOT said in a news release.

Drivers going northbound headed to Route 22 will be detoured to Interstate 81, onto Mount Road at I-81 Exit 72, then south to Route 22, PennDOT said.

Motorists may also use Exit 48, Union Deposit Road, and make their way to Route 22, according to the release.

The ramp needs to be closed so the contractor for the bridge and interchange project at Exit 50 can build the necessary tie-ins between northbound I-83 and the new off ramp, and between the new off-ramp and Route 22, the release states.

The new ramp to Route 22 will open Saturday night, and the existing ramp along Shoops Cemetery will close, PennDOT said. Those heading to westbound Route 22 will continue using the detour, which will direct them onto eastbound Route 22, to the turn at Colonial Road, before getting onto westbound Route 22, according to the release.
