Three animals perished in a North Codorus Township barn fire over the weekend, Southwestern Regional Police Chief Greg Bean said.

A horse, a mule and a cat were killed in the fire, which started shortly after 1 a.m. Saturday, March 24, in the 5900 block of Ambau Road, according to the chief.

Police said a horse, a mule and a cat were killed in this barn fire that started shortly after 1 a.m. March 24, 2018, in the 5900 block of Ambau Road in North Codorus Twp.

Fire raged through the two-story barn, and Bean said his officers assisted firefighters from several local departments as they doused the blaze.

The cause of the fire remains undetermined, according to the chief, who said a state police fire marshal is investigating.

No humans were hurt, he said.

A worker at Goofy's Eatery & Spirits, which is not far from the barn, spotted flames and called 911 to summon help, according to Bean.
