Donations are being accepted to help the families of four York City firefighters trapped when part of a building collapsed on them last week.

York City Firefighter Ivan Flanscha was killed in the line of duty when part of a building collapsed on him March 22, 2018.

Ivan Flanscha, 50, and Zachary Anthony, 29, were pronounced dead at York Hospital on Thursday, March 22, according to the York County Coroner's Office.

Two other firefighters — Assistant Chief Greg Altland and Firefighter Erik Swanson — remained hospitalized in serious condition, according to the page.

The York City firefighters' local and international union have set up a fundraising page that can be found at and are hoping to raise $100,000 to help all four families, according to a news release from Philip Given, chief of staff for York City Mayor Michael Helfrich.

York City Firefighter Zachary Anthony, 29, was killed in the line of duty when a wall collapsed on him March 22, 2018.

Flanscha and Anthony are the 12th and 13th York City firefighters killed in the line of duty, and the first line-of-duty deaths since 1971, according to the GoFundMe page.

"Their loss is a terrible reminder of the danger fire fighters face every time the alarm sounds and they are called upon to help their community," the fundraising page states.

The firefighters were inside the old Weaver Piano & Organ building at 127 N. Broad St. on Thursday, dousing hot spots from a massive blaze there the day before.

Part of the building collapsed, trapping the four men, city officials have said.

The York Professional Fire Fighters Association and the International Association of Fire Fighters Local 627 are asking people to consider giving even a small donation, as "every little bit helps and all donations collected will go to the families."

The GoFundMe page, created Friday, March 23, had raised nearly $80,000 by 11 a.m. Thursday, March 29.
