Wrong-way driver accused of intentionally ramming vehicles

HARRISBURG – A 57-year-old man is accused of intentionally ramming vehicles and driving the wrong way down a central Pennsylvania interstate.

Authorities charged Steven A. Polischeck of Boyertown Thursday with assault and other offenses for the incident the night before that began on Interstate 283 near Harrisburg.

Police say Polischeck purposely crashed into a police cruiser and pushed it more than 100 feet with his pickup truck, prompting a trooper to shoot at his truck.

They say Polischeck intentionally rammed a second police cruiser before his truck was stopped by police and he was arrested.

A police affidavit says Polischeck had “incoherent thoughts” when they tried to interview him.

He’s in jail, unable to post $200,000 bail. He didn’t have a lawyer on record and a phone listing couldn’t be located.
