  • Springwood LLC is requesting a special exception to permit a nine-hole executive-length course on Springwood Golf Course.

As development plans for The Views at Bridgewater — a 164-acre community of single family homes on Springwood Golf Course — unfold, several changes are starting to emerge.

Springwood's restaurant and bar, Bogey Macaw's American Grill, has been closed by Heritage Hospitality Management, according to Bogey Macaw's website. White Rose Bar and Grill is slated to open in its place.

“White Rose will be taking over the restaurant operation in the building,” said Don Beardsley, vice president of golf operations for Heritage Hills Golf Resort.

Heritage Hills Golf Resort and Bogey Macaw's American Grille are managed and operated by Heritage Hospitality Management.

Tom Sibol, owner of White Rose on North Beaver Street, could not be reached for comment about his plans at Springwood Golf Course.

Bogey Macaw's reported on its Facebook page that its last day at the Springwood clubhouse location was Sunday, Feb. 25, and it would be moving to Heritage Hills Golf Resort.

Heritage Hills has managed Springwood Golf Course. Springwood leases the land from Keystone Custom Homes.

Springwood Golf--existing course

The York Township Board of Commissioners approved the builder's subdivision in March 2016.

Springwood Golf Course will most likely change its name, Beardsley added.

"It will probably become the Links at Bridgewater," he speculated. "Parts of the golf course are going away, which is why we aren't going to be there anymore."

The Views at Bridgewater will have golf course views and clubhouse access, according to the builder's website.

Springwood has requested a special exception to reduce the size of its golf course from 18 holes to nine, according to the York Township Zoning Hearing Board.

Springwood LLC is requesting a special exception to permit a nine-hole executive-length course on Springwood Golf Course.

The request will be heard by the zoning hearing board Tuesday, March 27, the township reported.

According to PGA.com, Springwood opened as an 18-hole course  in 1998.

Keystone Custom Homes Marketing Director Ben Rutt could not be reached for further comment as to why the builder is reducing the size of the golf course.

Springwood Golf Club gets new holes

Beardsley said it's in the best interest of Heritage Hills Golf Resort to stay separate from Springwood.

“It’s not profitable for us when the property has only nine holes,” he said.
