Free risk-management workshop for farmers Monday
The Pennsylvania State Council of Farm Organizations will hold a free workshop in Windsor Township to inform farmers and agricultural producers about compliance requirements under the federal Food Safety Modernization Act.
The workshop runs from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday, Feb. 26, at the Red Lion Grange, 59 Second St. in Windsor Township, according to York County spokesman Mark Walters.
Discussion will include material for vegetable and produce growers, Walters said.
The workshop also will cover elements of a farm risk-management plan, which includes food safety, crop insurance and information about what information to ask insurance agents to ensure farmers' insurance needs are met, he said.
The workshop is free, and a light lunch will be provided.
It's the third in a series of workshops presented by the state's agricultural department and the council of farm organizations, according to Walters. The first two were held in Berks and Schuylkill counties, he said.
