York County native John Fetterman, also known as America's "coolest mayor," will share his thoughts about the revitalization of small boroughs and cities at the 18th annual Downtown First Awards.

According to a Downtown Inc statement, the awards honor individuals, businesses and organizations nominated by the public in eight categories. Winners are selected by a committee comprised of several downtown York City stakeholders.
First elected mayor of Braddock, a western Pennsylvania borough, in 2005, Fetterman is now serving his fourth term. He made a run for U.S. Senate in 2016 and is again seeking higher office as Pennsylvania’s next lieutenant governor in 2018.
Dubbed by The Guardian newspaper as "America's coolest mayor," Fetterman will talk about his experiences with revitalization as well as his hometown ties to the White Rose City.
“A healthy and vibrant downtown requires time, energy and investment from many people, businesses and organizations,” said Silas Chamberlin, CEO of Downtown Inc.
“We thank each nominee for their commitment to creating a downtown district that’s become the creative core of York County and a great place to live, work and visit,” he said.
The awards ceremony begins at 6 p.m. Thursday, April 12, at Logos Academy, 250 W. King St. The Glatfelter Agency is sponsoring the event.
Tickets cost $25 and are available at www.DowntownYorkPa.com.
