A rumor that a Spring Grove Area High School student brought a gun to school is just that, police said.

Lt. David Lash of Northern York County Regional Police said on Wednesday, Jan. 31, that there wasn't a gun in the high school.

He said no one even threatened to bring a gun to the school.

Northern Regional's school resource officer for the high school is investigating, the lieutenant said.

Apparently, a student there told one of his parents that a fellow student brought in a gun, according to Lash, and word spread quickly in the community.

The Spring Grove Area School District issued an alert to parents on Wednesday afternoon about the rumor.

The alert confirmed that police and school officials "immediately" investigated and determined it wasn't true.

"At no time were students and staff in danger," the online alert states.
