York City crash takes out tree, signs, postal drop box
A three-vehicle crash in York City took out a tree, a U.S. Postal Service drop box, a trash can and several street signs.
The crash happened about 3:10 p.m. Monday, Jan. 22, in the first block of North George Street, directly in front of the Appell Center for the Performing Arts, better known as the Strand-Capitol Theatre.
Dozens of people gathered across the street, in front of the York County Judicial Center, to take photos and watch as those involved waited for police and emergency crews to arrive.
Although it was initially reported without injuries, at least one person did suffer an injury and was examined by an ambulance crew and medics at the scene. It wasn't immediately known whether he was transported to a local hospital.
York City Police blocked off both southbound lanes of North George Street so the injured could be tended to and the wreckage could be cleared.
The single northbound lane in that block remained primarily open, although northbound traffic was moving slowly.
The force of the crash knocked loose chunks of concrete from the curb and the sidewalk.
