More than a dozen children learned how to turn wheat into bread during the Pre-School Activity Series "From Grain to Bread" event Wednesday, Jan. 10, at the York County History Center's Agricultural and Industrial Museum.

The children learned how to use a mortar and pestle to grind wheat grains. They then mixed together ingredients including flour, water and sugar to make bread dough, which was poured into disposable pans to take home and bake.

The York County History Center hosts weekly events for area families. An upcoming event of note is the "Magic at the Museum Family Day," where Harry Potter fans will be sorted into houses, meet Professor Snape and take a Defense Against the Dark Arts class from Professor Lupin, among other activities. Children are encouraged to dress up.

The free event takes place Saturday, Jan. 20, at the Ag and Industrial Museum, 217 E. Princess St. For more information, visit www.yorkhistorycenter.org/event/magic-museum-family-day
