Frigid temps lead to icy fun on Lake Redman

York Dispatch

Recent frigid weather created winter woes for many York County residents, but it also created a paradise for ice skaters and others at William H. Kain County Park.

Multiple skating and ice hockey areas have popped up on Lake Redman in recent days as several inches of ice covered the lake.

Some folks visited the lake just to take it all in.

A group of co-workers from the York Jewish Community Center, led by Fred Kocher, gathered Sunday around a wood stove sitting on the ice, sipping hot chocolate.

"Our group met up here to enjoy the outdoors," Kocher said. "We're just here to have fun."

Temperatures start to rise in the five-day outlook, with daytime highs near 50 by Thursday.
