A dead man's body was discovered by children Tuesday evening in a wooded area along the Codorus Creek in West Manchester Township, according to the York County Coroner's Office.

The deputy coroner was dispatched to the scene around 4:30 p.m. Dec. 19 in the area of South Richland Avenue and Zinn's Quarry Road, the coroner's report states.

The man, whose name has not been released, was discovered by some kids, who reported it to a fisherman, who called 911, according to the coroner.

Cause and manner of death are pending, though the coroner reports that there appears to be no trauma to the man's body and no foul play is suspected. He appeared to be dead for several days and possibly weeks.

West Manchester Township Police is investigating.

The man was originally transported to the York Hospital morgue because he couldn't be identified, but county forensics detectives assisted police and the coroner's office in identifying him on Wednesday, Dec. 20, the report states.

He was known to have no fixed address, according to the coroner.
