Women at the Stewartstown Senior Center have been hard at work making candies for the annual Christmas candy sale.

The group started taking orders and making candies in October, and they expect to finish next week. The candy sale is the largest fundraiser for the center, which lost its county funding eight years ago.

The senior center has been making and selling candy since 1993.

"We had one lady here that was like a Girl Scout, she went door to door selling candy. That year we sold 960 some pounds of candy," center director Rose Horton said.

The seniors expect to make about 250 pounds of candy for sale, about 7,500 pieces of candy total. They make peanut butter and marshmallow, peanut butter cups, peanut clusters, coconut cremes and more.

Next up for the center is its fourth annual fastnacht doughnut sale in February and an Easter candy sale in March. To order candy or fastnachts, contact Horton at 717-993-3488.
