York County is seeking more court-appointed special advocates, according to a news release from President Commissioner Susan Byrnes.

Advocates, who must be 21 or older, are trained to serve as information gatherers for the court and make recommendations to judges that are in the best interest of abused and neglected children.

The volunteers meet with doctors, attorneys, caseworkers and teachers to get a full picture of a child and their needs.

Applications are due by Friday, Sept. 1, and training will be held in the fall. More information can be found at www.yorkcountycasa.org or by calling 717-771-9754.
