Arians to unveil York City parks program Saturday
NFL coach and York native Bruce Arians will return to his old stomping grounds Saturday morning to announce the creation of the York City Parks Conservancy.
Arians, head coach of the Arizona Cardinals, is scheduled to speak at a news conference at the Memorial Park Complex to open the city’s program to preserve, restore and improve public parks within the city, according to a news release.
York City Mayor Kim Bracey went to Arizona in April to work with Arians on the conservancy program. At the time, Bracey said the conservancy will help the city maintain its public parks long into the future by offsetting and reining in some of the associated costs.
The conference is set to start at 11 a.m. on the lawn in front of the York City Ice Arena at the park on Vander Avenue. Following the news conference, the York City Parks Conservancy will host an event to celebrate its founding, according to the release.
The event will run until 1 p.m. and will be held inside the ice arena in case of inclement weather.
