A return to summer

Though the weather has been mostly mild and wet for the last month, a return to summer-like temperatures is in the cards.

The mild weather will finish out the work week, but by Sunday, temperatures could reach 90 degrees, said Aaron Tyburski, meteorologist for the National Weather Service in State College.

Theres is a slight chance of thunderstorms and rain on Saturday, and things are expected to remain hot and humid through Wednesday, Tyburski said. Temperatures will remain in the high 80s and lower 90s throughout most of next week.

“It’s definitely going to feel like summer,” Tyburski said.

People should not leave  children or animals in their vehicles during the heat and should be sure to drink plenty of fluids, Tyburski said. He also suggested people check in on elderly relatives and friends to ensure they can cope with the temperatures and humidity.
