A fire early Tuesday morning completely destroyed a Fairview Township barn, according to fire officials.

Fairview Township Fire Department Chief Chris Weidenhammer said the fire was fully involved when his department arrived just after 3 a.m. in the 700 block of Nissel Lane, and it took about an hour to knock the blaze down.

The barn, which housed a woodworking shop as well as lawn and garden equipment, is a total loss, with damages estimated  at $200,000, Weidenhammer said.

Fire marshals determined that the fire was electrical in nature, starting from a trickle charger plugged into a car beside the barn, according to the chief. The car was also destroyed.

No injuries were reported.
