Severe thunderstorm watch for York County

6 p.m. update: York County and the rest of southcentral Pennsylvania are under a severe thunderstorm watch until 11 p.m. Monday, according to the National Weather Service.

A band of showers and storms is expected to make its way through the Susquehanna Valley through the evening, the NWS said. Residents are encouraged to keep an eye out for changing weather conditions.

Previous: York County could see severe thunderstorms this afternoon and evening, with winds in excess of 60 mph and hail larger than an inch in diameter, according to the National Weather Service.


Tornadoes also are possible, as is localized flash flooding due to heavy short-term rain rates, the weather service reports.
