A Springettsbury Township man found dead in a Schoolhouse Lane home Saturday night likely died weeks ago, according to the York County Coroner.

Township police were dispatched to the home about 7:30 p.m. Saturday for a welfare check and discovered the 62-year-old’s body.

The fire department was called in because the man had apparently been heating the home with a kitchen stove, the coroner’s office said in a news release.

However, “it was later determined that the male resident had likely been deceased for several weeks,” according to the release. “The death may be due to natural causes as the stove was not emitting any CO at the time of the incident.”

There will be no autopsy, according to the coroner’s office, but “testing will be done to help determine the cause of death.”

The coroner's office and Springettsbury Township Police are looking for his man's next of kin. His name has not been released.
