Seventy-two people will be looking for work after the Kelvion Group closes its York County manufacturing plant later this year.

East Manchester Township-based Kelvion Inc. PHE will begin laying off workers starting June 30, according to the company’s notice filed to the state Department of Labor & Industry, which is required by the federal Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification Act.

Kelvion designs, engineers and manufactures plate heat exchangers at its “state-of-the-art” facility at 100 Gea Drive, according to the company’s website.

In 2005, the Global Engineering Alliance acquired the manufacturing plant’s former occupant, FlatPlate Inc., and two years later, GEA opened a multimillion-dollar U.S. manufacturing headquarters in East Manchester Township to make brazed and gasketed plate heat exchangers for a global market, the company’s website states.

After several mergers, the York County subsidiary was renamed Kelvion Inc. PHE in 2015.
