York Dispatch staffers recognized statewide
Three York Dispatch staff members have been recognized for their reporting efforts in 2016 in the Pennsylvania NewsMedia Association's annual Keystone Awards.
Politics and county reporter David Weissman won first place in the investigative reporting category for his coverage of a medical heart device causing illness and death nationwide. He also received second place in business or consumer reporting for his work on the First National Bank and Metro Bank merger.
Sports editor Steve Heiser won second place for sports/outdoor columns for three pieces he wrote, one about tragedies in York County sports over the summer, another about former Kennard-Dale wrestler Chance Marsteller and a third about York High's decision to move football games to Saturday afternoons.
Sports reporter Patrick Strohecker received an honorable mention for his overall sports beat reporting.
"The Dispatch has the good fortune to have an immensely talented team of journalists," Editor Allison Roth-Cooper said. "I'm heartened that members of our staff have been honored with Keystone Awards."
