Fairview Township resident seeks county controller bid
Julie Haertsch, of Fairview Township, is seeking the Republican nomination for York County controller, according to a news release.
A former banker and state employee, Haertsch will face off against Bonner Smith and Greg Bower during the May 16 primary election.
No Democrats are seeking the office, which is occupied by Republican Robb Green, who won't seek re-election after three terms.
Haertsch has served in the banking industry for 18 years and with the state for 21 years, according to the release.
“I pledge to use my years of business experience to run an effective and efficient office that promotes fiscal responsibility, and where taxpayer dollars are spent wisely,” she said in the release. “I’ll run a professional office that is open and transparent to ensure the public’s trust in county government.”
She has been a Republican since she first registered to vote and previously served as president of the Northern York County Republican Club.
