The National Weather Service has declared a winter storm warning for York County as the East Coast braces for major wallop over the next several days.

The winter storm warning is in effect from 8 p.m. Monday until 8 a.m.Wednesday.

The National Weather Service predicts heavy snowfall in more than a dozen counties across the state, including York, that may amount to 8 inches overnight Monday. Some areas may get as much as 14 inches by Tuesday evening.

There may be times of blowing and drifting snow, as gusts may reach 20 mph, according to the National Weather Service.

Snowfall is expected to begin Monday night.
