An elderly man was taken to York Hospital on Thursday afternoon after driving his car over an embankment in Penn Township, according to police.

Around 12:20 p.m., the 70-year-old man drove his SUV through a portion of a fence along an elevated parking lot and hit a retaining wall outside the Golden Visions Adult Day Services building, 250 Fame Ave., said Lt. Guy Hettinger of the Penn Township Police Department.

The crash left the front end of the vehicle perpendicular to the ground 9 or 10 feet below the wall.

The driver was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, Hettinger said.

The accident caused minor damage to the Golden Visions building, denting a small piece of ventilation equipment, Hettinger said.
