Friday is the final day for Christmas tree collections in York City.

Residents must place their trees out on the curb by 6 a.m. in order to have them collected by city staff, according to a news release. The city will chip collected trees for mulch.

Trees placed for collection after 6 a.m. Friday will be collected by Republic Services, the city’s contracted trash collector. Trees collected by Republic Services will not be chipped for mulch, according to the release.

Residents should remove all ornaments, decorations, lights and tree stands before disposing of their trees. Residents should not use tree bags, according to the release.

Though city offices will be closed Monday for Martin Luther King Jr. Day, curbside trash collections will operate under a normal schedule.
