Man struck, killed by Northeastern Regional Police car
A 74-year-old man was struck by a Northeastern Regional Police vehicle Wednesday night in East Manchester Township and died at the scene, according to the state police.
The police car struck the pedestrian about 10:25 p.m. at 4250 N. George St., according to the York County Coroner's Office.
State police are investigating because this is a police-involved fatality, the coroner's report shows.
State police wrote in an email that the man was attempting to cross the street when he was struck and killed by an officer on routine patrol in an unmarked vehicle.
The crash is still under investigation, police wrote.
The identity of the man killed is being held pending notification of next of kin. An autopsy has been scheduled for 8 a.m. Friday at Lehigh Valley Hospital in Allentown, according to the coroner.
