The York County Rail Trail Authority recently announced awards for local leaders and organizations for their roles in improving York City's Heritage Rail Trail, according to a news release.

The government leader award went to Jim Gross, director of the city's public works department, for overseeing the city's role in restoration efforts.

The trail organization award went to Downtown Inc, for helping to secure necessary funds and increasing public awareness.

The trail champion award went to Ken Martin, dean of campus operations at York College, for helping to secure funding and increasing awareness of the project's benefits.
