Coroner: Trucker dead from falling pipe in Dover
A North Carolina trucker died Tuesday from injuries suffered when a lead pipe fell from his truck and struck him in the head in Dover Township, according to the York County Coroner's Office.
The pipe struck 60-year-old Gary Hildebrand on Monday while he was working at the intersection of Park Street and Carlisle Road, the coroner's report states.
Hildebrand was transported to York Hospital, where he died from his injuries about 1:10 p.m. Tuesday, according to the report.
He was working for Virginia-based F.L. Moore & Sons Inc., and OSHA is investigating because it was a work-related accident, according to the coroner.
An autopsy was completed at Lehigh Valley Hospital in Allentown on Thursday, and the coroner has ruled his cause of death was blunt-force trauma to the head and neck.
