Car seat safety check events around York County
Parents of small children will have the chance to get their child's safety seat inspected free this month thanks to a Safe Kids York County and Center for Traffic Safety program called Safe Kids Buckle Up.
Starting at 3 p.m. Monday, Sept. 19, at the Walmart at 50 Newberry Parkway in Newberry Township, the events will offer drivers with child safety seats a chance to have nationally certified technicians help them install and inspect their car seats and booster seats, a news release said.
Other dates and times include 3 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 21, at Kohl's in Hanover, 360 Eisenhower Drive; Friday, Sept. 23, in York City; and 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, Sept. 24, at Apple Red Lion Chevrolet, 3220 Horn Road.
For the York City event, city residents are asked to call 717-845-6532 to schedule an appointment.
"There are so many things that go into installing these child safety seats," Center for Traffic Safety Director Barb Zortman said. "Within 20 minutes, these certified inspectors can make your child safer than they were when they arrived."
Everyone planning to get a car seat inspected is asked to bring both their vehicle manual and car seat manual with them, the release said.
