North Codorus motorcyclist dies in York City crash

A 56-year-old North Codorus Township man died after his motorcycle crashed into the back of a pickup truck Monday night  in York City, according to a York County Coroner's report.

William Benkert, of the 4800 block of Lehman Road, was driving his motorcycle to work on Route 30 when traffic reportedly slowed in the area of 901 Loucks Road, and Benkert's motorcycle struck the truck, the report states.

Emergency officials were dispatched to the scene about 9:48 p.m., and they found Benkert unresponsive and with no pulse at the scene, according to the report.

The coroner added that Benkert was not wearing a helmet.

Benkert was transported to York Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 10:32 p.m., the report states.

York City Police are still investigating details of the crash, and an autopsy might be scheduled after additional details are determined, according to the report.
